I am using touch designer to run our studio set up. I have a collection of ELP USB 4K cameras. But when I connect just 1 to touch designer via ‘Video device in top’ I get a terrible frame rate.
But I can use the same camera in VLC and OBS without any issues.
When I was using touch designer on my mac I was using AVFoundation as the video input driver. I wasn’t having any problems. But now we have moved to PC (which is the preferred set up) I cannot use AVFoundation (macOS only) and instead have to use DirectShow as the driver.
I have looked on the internet for ELP USB cam drivers to see if that would fix the problem but no luck.
I have found a work around which is to set up multiple OBS NDI streams for each of the cameras. I can then use the ‘NDI IN TOP’ in touch designer and I don’t have any frame rate issues. But this seems like a bit of a long way to solve the problem.
Does anyone know of some fixes for the DirectShow driver so I can take the camera feeds in direct without the OBS middle man.
PS I know the USB camera set up might not be peoples preferred way of doing it but with our budget and set up this is what we have had to go for.
