Hey guys,
I’m running into an issue where I can’t get Engine COMPs to switch .TOX files while in Perform mode, but they manage to do so just fine when not in Perform mode.
I’ve checked all the parameters on the Engine COMP and Window COMP and tried multiple combinations but can’t seem to understand the issue. I used to be able to do so in previous versions but have had issues since switching to 2023.11600, however when trying to use my current setup in previous versions the issue persists so I’m running out of ideas.
I’m using OSC data to load the correct .TOX file, and have no issues until I enter perform mode. Since performance is much higher when in Perform Mode, it would be great to be able to use it again.
Let me know if I’m overlooking something simple or if this is a recent issue in the latest versions of TD. Thanks!
So I figured out a way to troubleshoot the issue:
I viewed each node in my network in a separate window and then switched to Perform mode, and then switched my .TOX files. It helped me figure out which nodes were being switched off, and it wasn’t the Engine COMP at all.
Instead, it was the constant TOPs I was using immediate after the Engine COMP wouldn’t update and drop the video until switching out of Perform mode. Why this is happening, I have no idea. When using any other TOP that locks the resolution, the issue persists. Since the resolution switches to 1x1 when unloading .TOX files, this is a problem and prevents smooth switching, and only happens in Perform mode.
The one TOP I’ve managed to get to work well in my setup is the OP Viewer, and having it reference the Engine COMP. I’ve tried using Constant & Composite TOPs, and even just a null TOP causes the issue to appear. But the OP Viewer seems to be okay. Super strange.
Marking as resolved, but going to dive into this issue deeper.
Hi - the most common answer to “x doesn’t work in Perform mode” is “x is not being used in Perform mode, so isn’t cooking” - but I’m guessing the output of the Constant TOP is used in the final output, because you can detect the problem?
If you can’t work it out, reduce the problem to the simplest possible project file and we can take a look.
