RESOLVED: H264/265 Nvidia recording crashe my new P

Hello, Just receiving my new desktop:

  • AMD ryzen 7 3800X
  • 64 Go RAM
  • nVidia 3090
Everything perfect but when I try to record h265 or h264 (nVidia GPU) TD crashes instantly when I press “record”.
DaVinci Resolve use Nvidia encoder without crash and on my MSI laptop (intel i7 / 32 Go / 1070) everything is OK.
    Any idea?

on a sidenote: congrats on that beast of a machine @jacqueshoepffner !

Hmm, likely an incompatibility with the new cards. May require me to update the SDK. However I need to get my hands on a card to add support :/…

Unfortunately, I am in Paris…

Heh ya, I just hope they come into stock here soon!

Ah, I just came into the Forums to report a bug with videostream out TOP’s crashing touch when an input is connected to it. I’m running an RTX 3090 and Driver 460.89 with Touch Version 44350.

@malcolm you should definitely get a card! there are loads in stock now in the UK, I’ll ship one over for you.

This might all be connected.

I have same problem on RTX 3060Ti, but only on experimental releases. Recording with stable 2020.27390 works fine

I’ve ordered one but I won’t get it until March. Hopefully a A6000 sooner which will hopefully show the same issue

@exsstas
You are right, I tested with 2020.28110 and no crash.
Experimental still crashed.

The fact it’s stable in 2020.28100 is a great hint too, I’ll see what changed

Can you try this build and see if it fixes the issue:

Thanks!

Thanks, I will try today and give my verdict.

Sorry… Still crashing TD, no crash log. TD freezes and Windows proposes to force quit.
I will try the new 461.40 nVidia studio driver.

Ok, can you try this build:

The trick this time though is you need to wait and let TD work for a few minutes the first time you try to record. It needs to recompile a tonne of CUDA kernels (mostly the stuff that we now ship with OpenCV) for the Ampere cards. This only should need to be done once (or maybe one more time since I may change the cache directory in future builds). But after that it should be good.

Thanks,
Will try tonight.

Hello,
Finally tested it!
It works, but you have to wait one minute after your press record the first time. Everything freeze but TD doesnt crashes. It works with all sort of h264/265.
Thank you,
Jacques

Sorry,
Still crashing sometime…

Is it freezing and never coming alive?

Sometime it works, it waits some seconds the first time and record a movie. Sometime it freeze and is necessary to force quit.

Hi guys so …today i’ve done the test and unluckly doesn’t work. i did 4 attempts… always the same…touchdesigner goes to freeze and i have the only solution to kill the process.
