I’ve been having an issue logging in with my derivative account. I downloaded TouchDesigner on a Shadow PC and it says “Error fetching data. Check network connection” every time i try to log in.
If you are behind a proxy you may experience issues, can you confirm you have a standard connection to the internet and not through proxy?
Can you try a different wifi network?
I’m not behind a proxy that I know of. I’ve tried two different Wifi networks but it still says the same error code. I was able to bypass it by creating a key on my account on the browser but it logs out every time I close it.
What do you mean it logs you out every time? Are you saying the license doesn’t work and you need to rekey TouchDesigner everytime you startup?
If that’s the case, that sounds like a permissions problem, you do not have permissions to write into the licensing folder. Are you running as a system admin? Are you on Windows or macOS. Which version of TouchDesigner are you using?

Are you trying to create a Non-Commercial key? You can also use the OFFLINE keying method explained here
We’ve looked into this and it seems to be related to old website certificates. If you apply all the updates for your operating system then the issue should be resolved. (ie. Settings > Windows Updates on Windows and General > Software Updates on macOS)
Hey Ben, I’m running it on windows right now and trying to disable my commercial license. I’ve tried the system update mentioned above but it is still not working.
I am on a secure network (internet works) and have tried connection to different networks so it shouldnt be a network issue.
Today I has same problem. I solved it by connecting to the another wi-fi network (from my Phone).
@stsao on the ‘Create Key’ page where you login, does that work or the same issue? Just trying to narrow this down, thanks for your patience.
Assuming its a problem still, could you email us at support with your IP address so we can check our server logs? If you have a VPN, you might try it with it both off and on and see if it affects anything.
@ben on “Create Key” page I am unable to login either and it gave me the same “Error fetching data” error.
I was at my company office testing with their network and it didn’t work, came home with my own wifi and also tried my phone hotspot (^^Trying @wizartist method) and didn’t work.
When I was at the office, initially the license was on my mac system and i was able to deactivate it with no issue (on the office network) but when I wanted to install it on the windows system, it ran the error message, hence I installed it with just the key. But now I cannot disable it and bring it to another computer.
I have emailed the support team
