RESOLVED: Key manager not creating key and preventing TD running

Hi everybody,

Great to be here! Im looking forward to using TD but unfortunately I haven’t been able to yet as I am experiencing an issue with Key manager not working/ closing.
Ive been in touch with support but thought the community might have an answer so posting here.

The key manager window opens when I load TD. I log in, and as its my first using I log in and create a non commercial key. Thats when the issue begins. There is no dialogue, or auto closing on creation. There is no key created as far as I can see. The key manager window remains in the centre of the screen with everything else greyed out so I cant actually use TD. If I close the km window, TD closes. If I tab through the km window options Im prompted to create another key. Every time I try to open TD I have to create a new key as it’s not registering. Then I run out of keys!

Strangely I can select items and windows from the main screen. I also can open/ close other windows from the menu but as soon as I close the key manager window, Touch Designer closes as well. Im running out of keys trying to run TD!

Can you check the permissions via the instructions on this page and see if it resolves your issues? I’m thinking there should be a message dialog but it isn’t showing up for some reason. We’ll get you some more keys if you need.

I used the terminal commands on the page you linked to. Then when I opened TD it failed but gave me more lines to paste into terminal and then presto it worked!

Which lines did you end up pasting in the terminal, if you remember ? So that we can document the steps you took to get things to work.
