I am facing an issue where TD is stuttering when used on a second monitor.
I am using a Macbook Pro M3 Pro with latest TD version for apple silicon under MacOS Sonoma 14.6.1
Noticed it when dragging the TD window on the second monitor but seems to also be the case on the main screen as far as there is a second monitor connected.
This currently seems to be a known issue with the M3 chips. So far I haven’t been able to reproduce on my machine. Likely it will require an update from Apple to fix it, as it seems likely related to the GPU drivers, since it’s specific to the M3.
ok thanks.
the other video software i use seems ok though. If the issue is induced by the OS / GPU Drivers shouldn’t i expect the same issue with other software ?
Thanks anyway, i’ll keep investigating.
Different software uses the OS and GPU differently, so if this is a bug in the driver (which I’m not 100% sure of, just assuming right now), then it’s possible our workflow is hitting the bug and others are not. We continue to try to reproduce and see if we can fix this on our end though.
Feels like a refresh issue.
For the record, i just noticed when TD network editor window is on the second monitor, it seems ok (though quite random) when the window is in floating mode. Some stuttering happens at some points but feels ok for the most part.
Though when the window is maximized (not fullscreen but covers the whole screen) the timeline freezes and only updates when moving / hovering the mouse or navigate into the network. When you stop moving the mouse, timeline freezes. Note : this happens when TD window has the focus. When using the mouse on the laptop main screen and focusing on another app (like the finder or the browser) then the TD timeline is running again but with stuttering.
