I am a new user and trying add a .tox component that I found online to the palette. I have added a folder by following the “Add folder” option after right-clicking on “My Components.” I have placed the .tox file in the folder I chose, but I am unable to see the new component listed. I have tried restarting the software, using the “Refesh” option found in the right-click menu, but they did not help unfortunately…
It looks like a similar bug was reported by another user (forum topic 163194, sorry I am unable to add links), but they were using an earlier version of touchdesigner.
Maybe I am doing something wrong? I am new after all!
I am unable to reproduce so far. Was able to create folder, add .tox to folder and hitting refresh it would show properly in the palette.
Likely not related since you were able to create the folder using Add Folder, if I understood properly, but… if you go to your Mac system preferences, Secrutiy and Privacy, Privacy tab, “Files and folders”, do you see TouchDesigner listed here ? is it allowed ?
@ryan-dhuart I just tried on my Mac as well. Sometimes a picture is worth 1000 words, so here’s a video of me doing it. I’m wondering if there is anything different in your procedure?
Thanks for your help, @ben and @JetXS ! Actually, the process I was using to add components was the problem. I had created a folder with the MacOS finder, then put that full path into the “Add folder” dialog, etc. I did not realize how the software wants you do to this, so I followed a weird path to get there. In the end, watching this video cleared up everything.
I suppose I should have put this in the “Beginners” section! My mistake!
