# RESOLVED: Wave

It seems to me like a ramp with a offset of -1 and an amplitude of 2, should go from -1 to 1, not from -2 to 0.

Basically this same thing happens with all Offsets and Amplitudes in CHOPS.

For example an LFO with an Amplitude of 20 and an Offset of -10 should go from -20 to 20, not -30 to 10 as currently happensā€¦ What is up with this?

The offset is applied first, than the amplitude. So a value of 0 becomes -1, then gets multiplied by 2 to become -2.
With an offset of 0, the 0 stays at 0 since its (0 + 0) * 2.

I see.

This is extremely confusing for me, and works differently from every other synth Iā€™ve ever used, because you have limited possibilities in your output. Unless Iā€™m missing something With this operator as it stands, there is no way to create a ramp from, say -1 to 1.

I guess Iā€™m going to modify this for a feature request for a ā€œpost-addā€ addition to wave.

Thanks for clarifying this.

For a ramp from -1 to 1 use an offset of -0.5
