RTX IO - GPU Reads Directly from NVME Drives

Nvidia just announced a new feature called RTX IO, which lets the GPU read directly from NVME storage over pci, bypassing the CPU. Obviously, this would be a huge help for those of us dealing with many layers or canvas sizes above 4K. It seems to piggyback on Microsoft’s ‘DirectStorage’.

Announced in this Nvidia announcement video , at around 49:30.
