Saving op presets

hi, i’m new(ish) with touch designer, but it’s pretty easy because i know houdini.

however, one thing that’s bothering me is that i can’t figure out how to save presets for ops. this is a very handy (and often overlooked) feature in houdini, and i thought it would be here too, but maybe i’m just not seeing it.

also, i’m wondering how do i group nodes together into a subnetwork? is there a way to set the color of a node, aribitrarily? (it’s nice for coloring nodes with a similar function or nodes that go to gether, so you can find them at a glance).

maybe if somebody can point me toward a good primer on td workflows, that would be sweet. thanks!

Hi @jemismyname - There’s not currently a built-in preset system for TouchDesigner. In the palette you’ll find some tools that others have shared, but there’s nothing out of the box.

You can encapsulate your network into a base by box selecting and then right clicking on the network:

Collapse selected will then put all of your ops into a base.

The c key on your keyboard will allow you to set a color for your op - it opens a color picker in the bottom left hand corner.

oh, great that helps a lot.

i tried to press the c key for color, but my keyboard is kinda whack, so it must have been a missed stroke.

thanks!

I came from Houdini as well, and I use that feature all the time. I would love to see it implemented in TD.
