Skin POP problem

Hi !

I’m discovering the Skin POP and I have this problem :

The skin works perfectly it also creates straight skins between some points. I’m investigating and think it’s not really complicated but I would be glad to know

Have a beautiful day,

Edgar

Even if I ask the Skin POP to skin Groups of 867 primitives (according to the dimension), it doesn’t work

Hello, thank you for the report, I also just noticed some issues with it, I’ll investigate and fix.

Do you mind sharing a toe file with your issues to make sure I don’t miss anything? Thank you!

Hello, actually the issue I noticed myself was a user error, things look correct to me at the moment, so it would be much appreciated if you can share a toe file exhibiting your issue, thank you!

See attached simple test

Hey Vincent,

I just found the solution ! By setting DispPrev (created thanks to the Linemetrics) as the Rotate to Vector Attribute in the Copy POP it works !!!

Thank you again !

Hello Vincent,
I was having similar issues with the Skin POP.
When I try the file you shared here, only 80% of the shape gets “skinned”.
Any idea why this is happening?

Hello,

Can you share a screenshot showing the issue? also what your hardware setup is?
I tried it with latest experimental 2025.30770 and it behaves as expected on my setup.

Thank you!

I did not notice that there was a new Experimental version. I tried to install and run 2025.30770 but it does not work on my machine. I’m getting a Vulkan Error and it crashes. So I am back to 2025.30280, which runs okay on my machine.

I am running Windows 10 via Bootcamp on a Macbook Pro 2019 16" with
Intel i9 @ 2.30GHz
RAM 64,0 GB
AMD Radeon Pro 5500M (8 GB)
932 GB SSD

I am running Bootcamp for Kinect support and because 2025.30280 crashes quite frequently when I run it on MacOS.

EDIT: I just saw in the release notes that it’s known that Intel-based Macs with AMD GPUs are not working with POPs. I assume that using Windows 10 via Bootcamp is probably not a good workaround for these issues?

Thank you for the specs, can you update to the latest drivers if you haven’t?

If you’re still having the issue we’ll try to find a matching system to reproduce the issue on our end, the current mac intel amd issue should be mac os specific and unrelated.

I have updated the drivers now via the link you provided but that did not help unfortunately.
I am still getting a black screen followed by Vulkan Error Message when trying to run the latest Experimental Build.
Version 2025.30280 still works, but with the problem described above (incomplete skin).

Thank you for updating and sorry you’re still having what looks like pretty bad issues, we’re going to try to reproduce on our end and keep you posted.

Hello, quick update, I was able to reproduce the issue on my dev machine (windows 10) with a radeon rx 6700 xt so it probably affects all AMD cards and is not specific to your system, I’ll investigate more and fix the issue.

So this has been fixed and will be in the next release, which however might not be helpful if it crashes on startup for you - with 2025.30770 do you get a .dmp file, otherwise can you try the step described here to generate one?

Thank you!

We’ll also try to reproduce on our end.

We’ve reverted the change that caused the crash on start in 2025.30770. The next build will have the fix. Thanks for the report.
