Hi guys. I’ve been trying to create my custom midi map since 077 but this feature isn’t working (at least how I suppose it should work).
So I’ve seen messages on forums and I’ve faced this problem myself. Touch let’s you create your custom map but when you restart it’s gone! So here’s my workaround for this (I probably doing something the way it’s not supposed to be done but who cares - it works!
note: the images got weirdly truncated so to see them right (at least on my monitor) right click - open image in new tab
- open TD go to midi device mapper->devices->add device then right click on newly created user device map and choose “save device”
- go to /local/midi/userdevices delete the “template” base and drag and drop your .tox that you’ve got from saving your device. You’ll get something like this:
- from here you start editing the actual device map.
First of all change name to a desired one. Then go inside the network. You need to edit the content of three DAT’s attributes, sliders and buttons. Plus you’d also want to change a pic to something different. Just place a moviein node with your image → resolution → null change null name to “icon” lock it and delete nodes before it.
- the only thing that’s left (and the most important one) is to edit actual sliders and buttons messages. It seems that you can’t change the default prefixes of ‘s’ and ‘b’ so just leave them (later you can use rename chop after your midiinmap chop)
The best way to know what messages are you receiving is to open midi device mapper dialog and look for a log information while you pressing the desired buttons and sliders
so you need just the first and second collumn and leave the third one to be “–” since it’s reserved for the actual values.
- All you need to do now is to save your project, re-open touch and here you go! Your very own custom midi device, finally!
