I cannot see any text within the palette, sub menus when right-clicking etc. Is this a bug or is there a setting that needs to be changed somewhere? I downloaded the latest version today and this is my first time even opening the software.

You have a duplicate font in your library on MacOS. I’m guessing you are on MacOS?
Go to your font library and try to find the menu option to Fix duplicates or repair library. Something along those lines.
We suspect this happens when you transfer your MacOS profile from one computer to the other, possibly.
