SOLVED: Mac Os - Brackets

Hi,

Since 2022.25370 release, on my Mac at leat (intel chip), I cannot type brackets inside text, scripts, etc.
But I can inside a textbox in the parameter pane.

I can’t reproduce this, so a few questions to determine your setup.
Which keyboard layout are you using? An international language or US/UK english?

Brackets mean to you?
a) [ ]
b) { }
c) ( )

Hi Ben,

It is actually when I press the Option key(s) on a mac keyboard, nothing shows up, no brackets, no letters, no numbers.
I tried changing from French Canadian -CSA to US and to Canadian English but no luck.

Not working in the Annotate comp either.

So “a” and “b” not working and “c’” is.

Hi,

I’m not really a mac user, but is the options key equivalent to the Alt key on windows? Holding Alt is reserved for shortcuts, so it does block character input on those text boxes.

Is holding down the option key necessary to type those characters? Like the shift key would usually be on windows?

It has always been working alright in every previous versions of TD I’ve had. But yes, it is necessary, on a mac it’s the way to do it.

But like I said, strangely it will work inside textboxes of the parameter pane of every widget.

Right now to script, I have to make brackets in another app and copy/paste it in TD. You can imagine how annoying it is.

Cheers!

Thanks for the confirmation. We updated the DATs and textport in the last release to use the new font engine from the Text COMP, which is why it works a little differently than the parameter boxes.

Now that we know what’s going on, I’ll go over this with the more proficient mac users in the office and we’ll see how we can fix this.

We’ve got a fix now that will be available in the next release. Sorry again for the difficulties and thanks for your report.
