Sop-twist FPS drop problem

So I have a sop (a part of imported FBX). i want to Twist this sop, with a chop reference, but I immediately get FPS from to 2 or 3.

Do you have any ideas how to solve this. I tried it with polyreduce, but also not very lucky.

Hi @vpolajnar,

how many points and polygons does the model have? You can middle mouse click onto the In SOP called “in1” to get that information.

SOPs are processed on the CPU and tend to be very process heavy.
Please also mention your TouchDesigner build and Hardware setup.

Dear @snaut ,

Thank you for your reply.
I have TouchDesigner version 2023.11600

Macbook Pro M1 2020, 16 GB Ram, Sequoia 15.2

And thats my screesnhot from points and polygons. I can imagine is quite heavy. Should I try to reduce it?

Best,

Hi @vpolajnar,

reducing would be good - if you want to test fairly easily what number of points and vertices is acceptable for your framerate, you could create a Sphere SOP, set the Primitive Type parameter to “Polygon”, attach this to your Twist SOP and now increase the Frequency parameter on the Sphere SOP’s “Detail” page.

You probably should give yourself some space as most likely you don’t want to use all processing power only on the twist operation. But generally this is a good test to how heavy it weighs on your project.

Hope this helps

Thank you! I reduced and exported file with reduced size, works perfectly!!
