Hi,
for the first time in my life I’m doing a projection mapping trough touchdesigner.
Now the dj I’m working with wants to send sound into my computer trough an external soundcard.
We noticed there is a delay happening (like .5 seconds). Does anybody know some tricks to solve this?
We tried different rates and buffer lengths, which adjusts the delay, but doesn’t let it disappear completely. Maybe my computer is not strong enough?
I’m using an Asus Zenbook UX562FDX.
Greets,
Lucas
Also, working trough my built-in microphone we don’t notice any delay.
(though we would really like an input straight from his dj equipment, not recording the whole room)
The delay should match the buffer length of the Audio Device In CHOP. TouchDesigner isn’t great for low latency audio since our audio and video are processed in the same thread (since they can affect each other). This means we need large buffers since it’s common for video to cause frame drops, and we need audio buffer around to avoid pops/crackles due to a drained buffer.
Alright thanks for the insight!
Still, I find it weird that there’s almost no latency using my built-in microphone?
those small latencies really cause a big difference for the audience.
Do you mean there is no latency in TouchDesigner with one device, but there is on another?
