So tapping in the tempo with the beat dialog causes a half second of lag/jitter/whathaveyou… if i want to tempo tap not the entire project but just one specific beat chop (using a time comp iirc), for driving some various bpm-sync’d effects, is there an easy way to do this? i normally just send midi from another host (ableton usually) and let ableton control the tempo and send the effect triggers as midi… am i best off trying to tap it into ableton and continuing doing it this way? on tuesday i have to play along with a DJ so won’t have that automatic midi sync i like so much.

but the end of the explanation is confusing to someone like me who’s green behind the ears… says to create a DAT but not exactly how to hook it up to the other one.
if possible just want tap in the bpm of JUST the time comp/beat chop, and also have another keyboard button to reset the phase of it (so when it drifts i can just tap, reset it to line up)
