TD 2023.12370 Vulkan Device Error - Windows 11

CMP_WIP.toe (30.3 KB)

Hello

I am getting the error seen in the image attached. My drivers are up to date. I looked here Debugging crashes triggered by GLSL errors - Derivative but I don’t think what I am doing in my network applies. I am beginner level TD user so maybe I am missing something obvious?

I am not sure how to trouble shoot this. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you

Have you applied all Windows updates?

Does your system meet the minimum requirements? System Requirements - Derivative

Could you tell us the specifications of your system?

Hi

All Windows and driver updates are up to date.

I am using an Alienware M16 R2 laptop
Windows 11
64 GB of ram
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU
Intel(R) Core™ Ultra 9 185H Processor

Hey, does this crash occur on startup, or when you do specific things to this file?

Hi

It crashes randomly between 20 minutes of use to about an hour. No specific activity triggers it.

I followed the suggestion in the Robust Buffer Access section on here Debugging crashes triggered by GLSL errors - Derivative. Since then I haven’t had any issues so far.

Ya that’s strange. That does indicate an out-of-range buffer access is occurring somewhere, but this .toe file is very simple and it’s hard to see where that could be occurring.

Ya I have no clue. But for now it is not crashing, so that is a win. Thanks for your eyes on this.

Hi @malcolm

I now am getting a new error, see photo. This is happening when I resize the Perform window that I have open as a separate window. It is happening fairly consistently. Drivers and Windows updates are all up to date. Thoughts?

Thanks

It seems like you have Nvidia aftermath enabled, you should disable that if it’s not working since it impacts performance.

Can you try this build to see if it helps with that issue:

Thank you very much.

This version seems to have solved the issue I was having.

Greatly appreciated!

This fix will be available in 2023.12415+ Official and 2025.30442+ Experimental. Note, we are still investigating some issues when both VRR+HDR are active.
