TD immediately closes on "New Project" (MBP Tahoe 26.2)

Hey, folks. I have a fresh install of TD, default prefs, and the app launches, but when selecting ‘New Project’- TD immediately closes.

No crash logs in Console or DiagnosticReports; Terminal run only prints ‘MasterPortDestroyer is armed’ before TD closes itself.

It seems like this happens sometimes for GPU / OS / hardware combos and needs support from the TD team? (is there an older build I should be using or some other workaround?)

I’m running on a 2019 Macbook Pro, 2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9, Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB, 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, running Tahoe 26.2.

Thanks!

Hi @magerko,

can you let us know what version of TouchDesigner you are running?
For our latest versions the minimum system requirements have been increased to MacOS 13 (Ventura) on Apple hardware 2020+

cheers
Markus

Build 2025.32050

Thanks!

Hi - unfortunately as Markus says, TouchDesigner 2025 is only supported on Macs from 2020 or beyond. Many features may work on older Intel Macs with AMD GPUs like yours but we’re unable to provide solutions when you hit problems.

“New Project” will quit and relaunch TouchDesigner - so the closing itself part is expected - but you should see it immediately relaunch to an empty project.

If this is the only issue you have, you could change the Startup File Mode in Settings > General to Blank File so whenever you launch TouchDesigner you get a new project.

2023 builds should work on your machine, if you don’t mind life without POPs.
