Hello everyone!
I recently discovered a way to link Avid Pro Tools into TD that I could’nt find too much information about so I thought that I would share my technique!
The latest version(s) of Avid Pro Tools include a virtual I/O system called Pro Tools Audio Bridge. This allows virtual outputs to be sent to other softwares or external instruments and provides the perfect way to link to TD! THIS WILL ONLY WORK IF YOU HAVE PRO TOOLS AUDIO BRIDGE
For simplicity, this will explain how to connect a single stereo output from Pro Tools to TD.
Basically, all you have to do is go into your I/O setup in Pro Tools, make sure you’re using the Pro Tools Aggregate I/O.
-
Create an input AUX I/O and select Pro Tools Bridge 2A.
-
Create an output AUX I/O and select Pro tools bridge 2B
3.Then create a BUS (call it TD Link) and map the output to your Pro Tools Bridge by checking the box and selecting Pro tools Bridge.
-
Next, Select the track you’d like to send to TD - I chose the Mixdown Send in my session but it can be any track you like. Add a send and select TD LINK - Pro Tools Bridge 2B through output.
-
Now, pop into TD and create an Audio Device in, Select Pro Tools Audio Bridge 2-B and badabing you got it baby!
Have fun! I don’t know how many people out there have both TD and the latest Pro Tools, but I just wanted to share and make it easy in case anyone wants to know how to do it!
