Texture from real sphere to 3D SOP one

Hello there!

I have real ball with a specific texture and I’d like to get that ball with the same texture as a 3d Sphere SOP in TD.

My attempt was:
movie file IN (with pic)>crop (for resizing the pic)>3d texture>phong (to be applied to sphere)>sphere

In the end i have got a sphere sop that is similar to the real one when it is frontal, but the side and back parts look of course weird and distorted.

Any tips on how to rearrange the movie file in in the correct way for 3d texture(or substance) in order to apply it properly for returning back a MAT on a sphere?
