I don’t know if it’s an actual bug, but I don’t know what to do
I’m using TD 2023.12230 in No-Commercial version on Windows 10
My PC is a MSI Laptop Vector GP66 with 3080 and I7 12th with 16GB RAM
Nvidia Driver version 572.70
Starting from the default patch I add a Window COMP and I set it to Noborders, Monitor 1 and FILL
I link the last TOP on the Windows component and open it a separate Window.
The monitor 1 is connected via HDMI to an Acer Projector that I usually use and never gave me such a problem.
All works fine, but if I put a LEVEL TOP just before the last TOP and I change the luma or the brightness level TD freezes.
I reinstalled the whole Widnows from scratch, same thing.
I don’t really understand what is the problem.
If TouchDesigner is hanging, you can create a .dmp file or Crash report. On Windows, this can be done using the Windows Task Manager and right clicking on the process and chooseing ‘Create Dump File’. It’s also possible using WinDbg, see Using_WinDbg_to_Debug_Crashes. On macOS, see macOS Crash logs.
Hi there, it freezed again even without the projector, just sliding a monochrome’s paameter.
Here is the dump form the windows Task Manager (above 3GB). TouchDesigner.DMP
Thanks, we will have a look.
in the meantime, have you tried going back a version (or to a version you remember working) to see if this behavior changes?
Hi Huck, thank you for your reply, I would like to try, but in the nVidia site the older downloadable driver is the 560.94, I’m trying to find a place to download a 555.xx
Yep it might be a bit harder to find the older versions, you can try doing a Google search since Nvidia’s archives don’t go back that far, but the drivers are still on their site if you find them via Google.
So far we’ve had no luck reproduce this issue on any of the laptops we have in-house.
One thing you could try is downgrading your TD builds to see if anything earlier doesn’t have this issue. If you are able to find a build that works, then that may help us diagnose the issue.
It seems that downgrading the nVidia drivers fixed the problem.
3 hours of live coding in TD with the projector active and no crashes.
But now I’m working with a very old nVidia driver 555.x, as suggested by huck.
