Touch crash

I was able to run Touch Designer with no problem, but it’s crashing on launch every time now with the following error:

“Fatal Error
Touch has encountered an error and must close. It will now attempt to save your current file to CrashAutoSave.toe” not sure where to find that file, or else I would attach it here…

I reinstalled Nvidia drivers (manually selected the correct one) and also uninstalled/reinstalled Touch Designer several time with no luck. Thoughts on what might be causing this?

Running Win. 10 x64
i7 Chip
NVidia 980 Ti
32 Gigs of RAM

Thanks!
Jason

Hi Jason,

does TouchDesigner create a TouchDesignerCrash088…dmp when it crashes? If you start TouchDesigner from the Desktop, then these files should be created there.
If you can’t find them there, maybe try searching for them.

Cheers
Markus

Not seeing those files on the desktop or derivative folder anywhere. Also tried searching with no luck. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling again with the same effect.I also tried the 32 bit version. Nope.

I seem to be experiencing this exact same problem - I can still run TD 077 without issues but 088 won’t fly on machine. Get a “Fatal Error” window with the same language. No dmp file being generated that I am aware of. Tried both 64-bit and 32-bit flavors but no luck.

  • Nvidia drivers are up to date running 368.39 with a Titan Black driving my monitors
  • 3x additional GTX 780 6GB running through PCI-E Splitter but not sure what effect that would have on it given that 077 is still operating
  • 2x Xeon E5-2660 v2 + 128 GB RAM
  • Windows 10 Pro

Halp

I ended up completely reinstalling Windows and it’s working for me now. I have a feeling it’s Nvidia drivers causing the issues, but I could be wrong. I am running a 980 Ti.

Thanks for the response and glad you figured it out on your end. Not super keen to reinstall Windows since I am operating on only one production machine but good to know that it might be a solve.

Ya I guess I should have tried creating a new user and seeing if that worked. Might be an option?

It will work. I had tried that.

For anyone else suffering from the same problem also, I did a completely new install of Windows and 088 now works.
