I’m running TouchDesigner 088 on a Samsung SOAUS Laptop i7 processor dual core (2.2GHx) 8GB Ram with AMD Radeon HD 6750M. OS is Windows 7 SP1. When running TD for simple projects it works OK with the occasional hang (about every 20 minutes). When running KantanMapper I get a crash within about 2 minutes every time.
I’ve updated the drivers to the latest from the Samsung site.
Can someone point me to a crash log or other file that may help me start to debug the problem.
Looks to be 8.951.9.3000. That’s the latest from Samsung (where laptop is from). I attempted to install 13.9 directly from AMD but the detection software says that my system is not compatible and won’t install.
Somewhere on the AMD Catalyst Control panel there should be another version number that should be something more like 11.8, 13.9 etc. Can you see anything like that on there?
Just went through catalyst control panel and it surprisingly has no version information on any of the tabs. Uploading attached screenshot so you can see. I’m wondering if the Samsung version of the driver is skinnied down due to the dual Graphics cards. There is the Intel on-board card and the AMD Radeon 6750m GPU.
Not sure about ATI but with NVIDIA Dual GPU laptop setups I was unable to install the NVIDIA drivers from their site until I had first installed the Intel HD GPU drivers.
These will let you install on your laptop and whereas the ones from the AMD site often refer you to the manufacturer’s website, or simply state they are not compatible.
Thanks for the notes. I’ll try updating the Intel drivers and see if that helps and then try guru3d.
As a side note I figured out that the crash only happens when I use something like a Window COMP and then set the Monitor to 1 and then click Open or hit Perform Mode. Something about opening a window on the other monitor causes the crash.
I have my setup reversed so the laptop native monitor is 1 and my Samsung LCD is 0 (primary).
