basically, Splashtop lets you take control of your PC remotely from your iOS thingy.
I just now downloaded the APP and the streamer and successfully got Touch on my screen and was able to make a 'OP network completely on my iPad. not easy because of touch’s mouse-wheel and right-button-centric interface but actually doable.
The app is free for the moment and it should be possible on the iPhone too. I think it redirects audio as well but I have not tried that bit yet.
I suspect that doing this via my 5c/Mb prepaid mobile account in a cafe would be financially perilous but several cafes have ‘free’ wifi here (well you pay more for a coffee though but there’s always McDonalds).
I am having trouble imagining a scenario where this would be useful but it’s making me weep with desire for a windows 8 tablet with intel and nvidia that could run touch natively with both wacom and finger n the screen.
I was trying that to use that as a controller instead of touch osc. I tried with a galaxy tab though…was not working well. Air Display worked okay…the main problem was that neither had the capability to boot into a certain config everytime. Meaning you needed to have access to the computer running touch and thats not an option for what Im doing. Definitely something I will be messing around with more though.
Maybe i will have better luck with the Ipad version of splashtop. I really liked the size of the 7" Tab though
hi there!
jump desktop would be a decent alternative
jumpdesktop.com/
.i know a few 3D/FX people, who are using such vncs for presentations/pitches/rendering…i mean, if you have static ip @home and a rather stable vpn…put your 17core-61GBRAM-QuattroQuadro-workstation under the bed and stay fashionable with 2 ipads/androids at the club/venue/pitch
modo, bit of an underdog 3d-app, has just introduced a nice feature, where you can actually send the realtime GL preview port to an ipad.

comes in handy! a bit like…

jump desktop looks promising. I have no application in mind, I’m just messing with it because it’s there. and I used to use touch on a tablet a lot in 2003 and it was really great. There was a little LG tablet that Felix got in 2006 that had a separate nvidia card but that was the last one that could run touch and newer versions of touch are a bit too heavy for that machine now.
