TouchDesignerAbletonSync.toe not running

I tried builds 16900, 18580, 18660 of FTE 077 TD, but none of them runs TouchDesignerAbletonSync.toe that I downloaded from here: derivative.ca/wiki/index.php?title=Ableton. This is rather surprising, other files load without a problem.

Could it be that this .toe file is outdated? Or does it not work with FTE versions?

What’s the specific issue you have?

when I run this file, I see the application loading (welcome screen), and then a big black square. It appears TD hangs in some process. Besides, there is not a firewall window underneath. Firewall is already set to allow network connections for TD.

If I run TD 077 from the desktop shortcut, it works fine, I can load older projects. When I open the said file from the menu it results in the same black square.

First I blamed the outdated version (16900) which I was using earlier for Lemur and Space Pilot Pro experiments, but more recent versions didn’t make a change. I even installed TD 077 18660 on another Partition of the same computer and tried again.

The computer is a i5 machine running W7 64 SP1, with enough RAM, GTX 570, M-Audio Audiophile Firewire.

And I also shut down Ableton/Max on the other machine, to prevent possible errors. Also, the file seems alright, I downloaded it twice. All other files in the archive aren’t corrupt either, the samples are good, the .als projects loads fine in Ableton Live. I feel like I’ve exhausted all possible error sources, that’s why I’m asking here in the forum.

I use TD only occasionally since some time (2009 I think), but this issue is completely new to me. Never happened before.

Ya the black square is the project loading in perform mode. Move your mouse over the square and hit the ESC key. It’ll open the network editor.

oh my god, that was trivial. Thank you very much for pointing me into the right direction.

No worries, stumped me in the beginning too. Make sure to read the wiki page thoroughly, and feel free to check out the tutorial video I made in regards to using the Ableton Sync environment.

actually it is your video that drove me to try this Ableton-TD combination. Beautiful graphics/visuals you have there. But I’m also not very familiar with Ableton, until recently I thought it was a silly program, but Max4Live is really powerful, I love the Lemur Mu template that uses M4L.

Will take some time to learn all this and check out all the links you provided in the video description.

Thanks again!
