Trigger CHOP timeslice issue

Hi guys,

TD PRO (2021.15800) | Win10 (22H2)

Trigger CHOP have strange behavior.

This node is Time Sliced (as it is by default).
But the sample length is jumping above 1. As I understand, in Time Sliced mode it should always be only 1 sample per channel. Correct me if I’m wrong.

This particular behavior happens when GPU is at 99%, but considering node cook time this shouldn’t happen.

I know, that 2021.15800 build is rather old, so maybe this issues is fixed in the actual version?

By the way, In the past, I encountered this behavior many times in other time sliced CHOPs even when GPU load was low.

Hi @Sheff,

this is actually quite the other way around: A Time Slice is the time from the last cook frame to the current cook frame. (See Absolute Time.) In CHOPs it is the set of short channels that contain the CHOP channels’ samples between the last and the current cook frame.

More info on timeslicing can be found here:

Thanks @snaut ,

Feels like a small discovery , as for many years I was convinced (don’t know why) that its always 1 sample long. Thanks Markus.

Maybe its better to move this topic to other section then.

Best,
Andrew
