Hi,
First, yes I know this is “frowned upon”, lol, in preference of one performance spanning multiple displays. But I couldn’t find a straight answer.
I have a .toe I’m learning the ropes on. It has the rendered composite smack in the middle of a bunch of ui controls. I want to keep the ui controls, in perform mode, on one physical 1600x1200 monitor, and have my composite output on a second 1280x1024 monitor without one big performance spanning two monitors, at least for now. I can manipulate the existing Window component acros my monitors in various ways, so my nvidia display setup is visible & working in Touchdesigner.
So here is the question: Can two window components share the same container and each output to a different monitor? I ask because I’ve been experimenting trying to send different containers to different monitors w/ no luck, so I tried the known “windowable” container w/ two windows, no good. Before I go nuts, I need to know if this two monitor/two window thing is doable.
Why not make a single window that is 1600+1280 long, and 1200 tall, then make a container the same size, make your content containers the children of that container, then either use X and Y position to put them in place or use the Align setting in the parent container.
The answer to your question is yes, though. I’m not sure what a “windowable” container is. All containers can be attached to any Window COMP. can you post your project? Sounds like you’re probably just missing a simple parameter or reference.
Thanks for the reply. I think I figured out what’s going on here. I’m stuck at build 32840 because anything newer totally breaks the ui I need, “Fragtool”. I see that the ‘Fall Update’ made radical changes to the window handling, I’ve been trying to apply the newer documentation to the older build, no joy, lol. Doesn’t look like the older build’s Window dialog (Alt-W) supports multiple window objects. Bummer.
Don’t use the window dialog in the older builds. You can just use create Window COMPs and then assign their parameters as necessary, and each one has an open button.
But you really should just try to make 1 large window, it’ll run much faster, especially if you’re using something complex like fragtool.
