Update radio button with chop/dat

How can I update the state of one of the TUIK radio buttons with a chop or a dat? What is it expecting to receive to initiate a change of selection?

I have a radio button setup to change between ortho and persp for my camera and I want to be able to change the state using like a midi interface.

attached an example from Rob. the DAT script clicks the radio button when the chop value changes.
