Using imported FBX as emitter?

How would i go about using an imported FBX as a particle emitting surface?

I can use the geometry primitives fine (circle, grid etc.) but cannot wire up my imported geo.

Suggestions welcome, thanks in advance!

The primitives you use which are working as particle emitters are SOP’s, not GEO’s. You need to connect to the SOP level, not the GEO level, so go one level deeper. If you go into your Geo Comp emitter_ring_1 you can create a SOP out.
