Using In TOP operator to bring data inside base

I’m exploring the anatomy of the Feedback palette/OP snippet. There is a link on the left side of the In Top operator that indicates it’s retrieving data from the operator connected to this base outside the base. What property holds this link?
I’m looking to recreate this snippet as an exercise, but there is little info on the IN operators. I came across this by completing the “Beginner’s Guide to TouchDesigner Audio Reactive Visuals” blog tutorial article.

The In TOP creates a TOP input in the parent COMP. If you zoom out with your mouse wheel until you are at the parent level, you’ll see what TOP is connected there.
