using kinect xbox 360 with TD

Hi all
I went out and bought a kinect, it is the xbox360 hardware. I was unaware that this was incompatible with the kinect CHOP. Do I need to use processing as an intermediary or is there a way of using this hardware within TD?

This is a limitation of Microsoft allowing us to use their SDK in a commercial app (it’s how they make their money on it). Although it seems like the kinect 1.5 runtime is opening this up… Haven’t tested this myself though.

Yes, in the xbox world, M’soft can ‘give away razors then sell the blades’ in the win7 world it’s a smaller market, so they can’t afford to lose money on the razors.

If you are looking for just the XYZ posistions of your limbs, then you can use osceleton. With some tweaking osceleton you can even get the rotational data :slight_smile:.
