Virtual Production

Hello, I would like to ask, can we use TD for a live virtual production project? Thank you.

Hello,

Perhaps a little bit more information on what you want to explore. The subject is so huge.

Cinema? Installation? Live music? …

Hello,

Thank you for your response. The project I plan to try is a project for Cinema, such as using Unreal Engine. Is it possible? And if so, what equipment do I need to prepare?

Sorry, but you doesn’t give us practical informations:

– you wil use led wall to animate a background for filming ?

– what is the link between Unreal and TD ?

– which kind of image you want to produce ?

– what action would be driving animation ?

And so on.

Be more specific, please.

Halo @jacqueshoepffner thanks for your respon again.

1. Yes, I will use LEDs.

2. I’m just providing an illustration or example of a virtual production system that can be run by Unreal Engine, which is why I’m asking if a virtual production system can be implemented in TD.

3. This uses a 3D environment that can respond to input (camera tracking).

4. Animating using the Kinect V2 sensor.

Hopefully, that’s clearer. Thank you.

Yes, TouchDesigner is commonly used on virtual production sets. It is especially strong at 2.5D setups. Often it is used in conjunction with Unreal when more photorealistic rendering is required. We developed a TouchEngine plugin for Unreal to serve these use cases

Ok ben…thank you for the information and input.:slightly_smiling_face: :folded_hands:
