VK_KHR_surface error message

Hello! I’m having trouble installing Touchdesigner. After I install it and try to open it I get this error message:
Failed to initialize Vulkan.
Reason: Required instance extension not found: VK_KHR_surface.
Please ensure you have the latest graphics drivers installed from Nvidia, AMD, or Intel website.
I am working on a Lenovo laptop with Windows 10 Pro, processor - Intel(R) Core™ i5-5300U CPU @ 2.30GHz 2.29 GHz
I have tried updating graphics card/drivers from both Vulkan and Intel websites which has resulted in a different error message related to Vulkan.
Can anyone help me with how to solve this issue? With specific updates that I may need, etc?

Does your system meet TouchDesigner’s system requirements?

Could you share your system specs with us?

Hi Ben, thanks for your message.
It looks like maybe the processor doesn’t meet the requirements.
My laptop has an Intel i5-5300U CPU and according to the system requirements for TouchDesigner, Intel® HD Graphics 5300 isn’t compatible with Vulkan.
If this is true, is there any workaround for this?

Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 22H2
Processor Inte (R) Core™ i5-5300U CPU @ 2.30GHz 2.29 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.70 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

There is no workaround unfortunately, Vulkan has been a requirement since 2022. You could go all the way back to our old versions from 2021 before Vulkan, but the GPU in your system really isn’t up to the task so I don’t think the experience would be very good. TouchDesigner is a realtime graphics platform so you really need a system similar to a gaming computer, with an appropriate graphics system.

Thank you so much for the clarification on this, it really helps a lot. Thank you!
