Hi everyone, I’m developing a VR game that’s connected to a heart rate sensor and a stationary bike (I’ve written apps to read and send OSC data to TD).
This is my bachelor’s thesis project at the Academy of Fine Arts, in which I explore the relationship between the body and space.
TouchDesigner - latest version
VR - Meta Quest 3 (link)
144Hz monitor (72Hz in the project)
RTX 5070ti
64gb ram
i9 14th 14900k
I’ve recently had issues with FPS drops in the program; I’d read about FPS drop issues on the forum before, but that wasn’t my case.
I think I’ve fixed the issue for now, but I’m writing because I’d like to make sure this is possible:
Question 1 - Can the TOP Oculus Rift node, which sends to VR, be cloned via Select to the OP viewport, or could this cause errors?
Question 2 - If I have active output to the Oculus, is it possible that tinkering with the project/geometry could cause an FPS drop, where the Oculus says something is unstable, cuts the FPS in half, and keeps it at 37?
Currently, I’m using a viewport that runs much earlier than the TOP Oculus Rift node, and I only run it when I have “Perform” enabled; I’m not having any issues right now (hopefully it stays that way).
PS: The CPU and GPU are not at full capacity and i have
TOTAL: 37,290 nodes in the project
Edit:
Unfortunately, the problem hasn’t gone away after a few hours of work, the FPS drop came back, and the only way to get it back to 72 FPS is to restart the game.
PS.2 i have v-sync mode disabled in perform window
