Vulkan Device Error, when GPU is stressed (Hackintosh)

Hey, I am on
3,6 ghz i9 9900 8 core
32gb RAM
Vega 64 GPU

Big Sure, Hackintosh (Open Core)

I worked on a Node following mostly a Tutorial by Matthew Ragan and as soon the GPU needs to work my Hackintosh completly crashs. Including funny system wide graphic pattern. So I ask myself if it’s a Touch-specfic problem or if my graphic-card is broken.

Blockquote The Vulkan Device has returned a fatal error code.
This usually happens if a GPU operation runs for too long or is stuck in an infinite loop.
If you are using GLSL TOP/MATs, check your code and try to simplify complex shaders.
Otherwise, please report this issue to support.

Well that’s brutal

What would happen if you run the same file, on the same hardware, not in MacOS ? Can you boot on Windows at all?

We can’t do much about those specific setups.

This could be caused by a driver bug and out of our control, especially in such a specific configuration.

I tested your file on Windows / Nvidia and everything is fine. The main issue is not the GPU being stressed here, it’s the CPU.

Also tested on a Mac Mini M1 where it runs surprisingly well.

Best,
Michel

Hey JetXS
thanks a lot for looking into it!
So far I don’t have a parallel windows-installation, but I will do so soon, to troubleshoot if it’s a a software (/hackintosh) or hardware problem.
