what is the current status of creating Player applications?

Hi,

I can’t really find that much info (not even the player download for that matter) so maybe folks can help me find an answer.

Leaving aside all considerations about distribution, platform limitations etc. - if I create a small game with Touch Designer Pro, is there a path for me to selling it to a larger audience?

If so, can someone lay it out for me in terms of how to output Player apps from Pro, whether or not there are fees to pay to Derivative if one sells Player apps, etc.?

I’m creating small Touch games with my kids, and I’m thinking it may be fun to do the whole exercise of bringing them to market, so now I have to decide (again, leaving aside platform limitations, and touch vs. unity debate - I’m not in it to make money) whether or not we should continue using Touch which we all like and it’s useful for me to teach my kids programming, or switch packages.

thanks!
dani

TouchPlayer is included in the TouchDesigner installer, there is no separate installer. The installer would be the same size as TouchDesigner since it uses the exact same code base, so we bundled it together.

TouchPlayer was created to help others try your TouchDesigner applications without needing a license or key, they just install TouchPlayer and run it. In its current free, non-commercial form, it is not meant for the commercial distribution of applications built with TouchDesigner.

If you are looking to create a game for selling to a larger audience, contact us directly and we are ready to discuss what’s possible and work with you on a solution. If you are creating a game and as you mentioned later in your post “not in it to make money” (ie. not collecting revenue) you can use TouchPlayer freely.

There is more information about TouchPlayer on its article in the wiki here:
