What is the recreatemissing parameter in the replicator COMP

I have noticed this new (and undocumented parameter) in the replicator comp. What I think it would do is only create a new replicant when a table row is added however, in my tests it looks like all of the replicants are still recreated when a table row is added.

Could somebody please explain what this operator parameter does and how I could recreate just the replicant for a new row in a table rather than the entire set of replicants?

And bonus question: if only a row location changes in the template table, will the replicant for that row be recreated or is it cached/re-used?
