Why does a (videoDeviceIn) device menu par turn into a strmenu par when binding?

If I drag and drop a device par from e.g. a videoDeviceIn TOP to the component editor an “bind par as master”, TD will create a strmenu instead of the regular menu that is used on the videoDeviceIn . Why is that?
