Why does the default patch have a geo in it?

Why does the default patch when you open TD have a geo in it? If I remove the geo the output looks exactly the same. What is the purpose of the geometry?

(I can only attach one image because I’m a new user, but the geo was between the displace and output)

My guess is not that it does anything functional in line, just showing in/out and geometry texturing. Though devs may have a more concrete reason.

my speculation is that the defualt comp is meant to demonstrate conversion between the family of operators, as well as piping data in and out of COMP class items to show multiple levels of hierarchy. I would argue that having a camera, light, render and material would paint a better picture of the workflow, but that probably is heavier then they want for a basic network example
