Will the nvidia sdi capture card work out of the box?

I haven’t heard of core audio for windows. My brother is more the audio guy these days, I’ll ask him what he knows. I’m pretty sure that the sound cards I currently have don’t support core audio for windows.

I just asked my brother if he heard of core audio for windows and he said he hasn’t heard of it (he uses Reaper for production and ProTools for clients (as far as we know Core is a Mac deal)) but he did say that sound card companies and DAW makers (at least Reaper) are starting to use WASAPI (Windows Audio Session API)which is suppose to be like a core audio API for windows. Maybe this is what your talking about. If so it sounds like this is starting to be used.

If it is the case I don’t mind buying a new soundcard though. The two m-audio interfaces I have now are older and really not the best. I’ll go to the Motu and RME sites and see what they currently have and support.

great news!

I just did some research and found that windows is calling WASAPI, CoreAudio for windows also. I couldn’t find too much information on it though but I did find some older vista articles and forum post’s stating latency issues with latencies under 20 ms (in the audio world 20ms is too high, 12 is not too bad, 6 is good and 3 is great).

I think it would be a good idea to contact some of the major sound interface manufactures to see what they recommend. Here are some links for a few of the companies I can think of;

motu.com/
rme-audio.de/en_index.php
m-audio.com/

If you can’t get stable audio at a latency of 12 ms or less then I don’t really see the point of using WASAPI but if so then great!

Thanks, those are exactly the first 3 companies I was looking at earlier as well!

Cheers
